This year in English each week we had to spend 150 minutes reading or working on an English project. Even though this wasn't my first year of being required to read a certain amount per week, it was still unique. What made it different was that we had to read a certain amount of minutes per week unlike past years when I had to read a certain amount of pages.
The 150 minutes per week had both pros and cons. Well cons was mainly just the overall amount of time. Even though I got use to the amount required at the beggining it seemed like a lot compared to past years. Another con was that we had to do a blog post, but I even though I didn't like it I still felt it was necesary because people could just lie about reading, but also that if you know your gonna have to do a post about what you read it makes you read closer. Then there were the pros, which I thought outweighed the cons. The pros were that we had a week to complete the requirements. Another pro was that you could have read in type of material (magazine,newspaper,etc.). Also I liked that if we had a project due and we worked on it at home we could add that to part of our 150 minutes.
Outside reading also helped me figure out what kind of reader I am. I found out that I won't read because I have free time so requirements are necessary for me to actually read. Also I found out that I shouldn't read a lot at one time. It's better for me the read more times but with fewer pages v.s. to read alot at one time.
